Our Supporting Kidds Internship Program
Supporting Kidds offers clinical internships supervised by our Clinical Directors. These structured learning opportunities are designed for students pursuing careers in counseling, psychology, social work, or related fields. We welcome and support students who are obtaining their graduate, undergraduate, and associate’s degrees.Â
Core Intern Roles at Supporting Kidds
> Facilitating grief support groups and program activities for children, teens, and families
> Provide general program and participant support under staff supervision
> Help prepare materials and organize resources for programs and workshops
> Support administrative tasks, maintain program materials, and resource organization
> Assist with community outreach events and fundraising activities
> Participate in training and supervision with Supporting Kidds staff and Clinical Directors
Internship at Supporting Kidds Involves
> Observing and learning from experienced professionals
> Developing practical skills related to the profession
> Receiving feedback and guidance from a qualified supervisor
> Supporting program preparation, materials, and group logistics
> Observing and learning from clinicians and program facilitators
> Supporting community outreach events and fundraising initiatives
> Participating in training and supervision with Clinical Directors
> Weekly supervision: with a licensed counselor (LPCMH, LCSW)
> Visit public & private schools for facilitating peer bereavement support groups
> Ability to work with children 5-18
> Ability to connect with peers, parents, school counselors, etc.
> Available to support after-school programs
> Assist with client intake support
Requirements include
> Age 18 or older
> Completing an interest form and an in-person interview
> Attending a 6-week training program
> Pass criminal background checks (including child-abuse history clearance)
> Adhering to Supporting Kidds’ confidentiality policy
> Must possess a valid driver’s license and registered vehicle to attend sites
Special Projects & Committees
Supporting Kidds welcomes students and volunteers to help with special projects and committees, such as planning, community outreach, and fundraising events throughout the year. This can be a great way to contribute even if you’re not directly facilitating groups.
