Hearts That Heal Gala

November 16 - November 17

As of 2023, 1 in 10 children in Delaware will lose a parent or sibling by age 18. (Judi’s House (2023) CBEM). Delaware’s 2023 statistic is the 12th highest in the country representing more grieving children in our state than last year.

As The Center for Grieving Children, we are committed to always being here to help the 1 in 10 children who need us. A part of that commitment is raising awareness of childhood bereavement. That is why we have kicked off our Hearts that Heal Campaign in which we will share stories from children, their caregivers, volunteers, staff, and people in our community regarding their grief journey. The campaign will end on National Children’s Grief Awareness Day on November 16th.

In 2023, we served 405 children, compared to 328 children in 2022. These children were seen for individual counseling and/or in groups at our center, schools, and community centers. The number of children who need us is growing and we rely on donations to continue to expand our reach. Proceeds from our gala will go towards helping carry out our core belief which is that no child should ever grieve alone.

Official invites are not out yet. Please reach out to ensure you are on our mailing list.
